ACTIVITY – 10
STUDY OF EXPANSION OF LIQUID
Aim :  To note the change in level of liquid in a container on heating and interpret the observations.
scale,
Apparatus : Volume dilatometer, liquid, water bath , thermometer, burner.
Diagram:

Procedure :
*      Take a volume dilatometer.
*      Fill it with a water which is at room temperature upto its lowest mark,  & close it.
*      Note down the room temperature with a thermometer
*      Immerse the bulb of the dilatometer in a water bath.
*      Heat the water bath upto 70°C.
*      Note down the level of water mark now.
*      Determine the change in level of water. Take the reading in the given table.
*      Again repeat the experiment and Heat the water bath upto 80°C & then to 90°C, determine the change in the level of water in each case.
Observations :
Room temperature                                        =………………0C
Intial Volume (intial Level)                           =………………
